Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered some common questions below. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please call us — we are always available to speak with you directly.

  • If your pet passes away outside of our Monday–Friday 9am–4pm hours, you may call to arrange an evening transport, or we can schedule transport for the following morning.

If you would like additional time at home with your pet, a morning transport is often a gentle option. In most cases, it is appropriate for a pet to remain at home overnight if kept in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not necessary.

After-hours transport is available if needed and includes an additional fee.

  • Yes. You may choose home transport or bring your pet to one of our locations. We will guide you through the options when you call.

  • Individual cremation means your pet is cremated separately and is never commingled with other pets. We do not offer communal cremation.

When your pet comes into our care, they are assigned a unique identification number that remains with them throughout the entire process. We follow consistent identification and documentation procedures to ensure the cremated remains returned to you are solely those of your companion.

  • We understand why families ask this.

Because our crematory is an active operational facility with strict safety standards, we are not able to accommodate witnessed cremations.

Shore Pet Cremation is owned and operated by Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home and follows the same regulatory and inspection standards as a licensed funeral home. Maintaining a carefully monitored environment is part of how we ensure every pet is treated with dignity and respect.

While families are not able to witness the cremation itself, we offer private family rooms where you may spend meaningful time saying goodbye before your pet is taken into our care. This offering is listed under our Services & Pricing page as “A Final Farewell.”

  • In most cases, pets are ready to go home within one week from the time they are received into our care.

We will call you as soon as your pet is ready. If you would like updates along the way, we are always happy to keep you informed.

  • We provide cremation services for most companion animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and other household pets.

We are able to accommodate large and giant breed dogs, including Great Danes and similar breeds.

At this time, we are not equipped to accommodate very large animals such as horses. If you are unsure, please call us and we will be happy to guide you.

  • Yes. We offer private family rooms for those who would like time to say goodbye in a quiet and supportive setting before their pet is taken into our care. This is listed under our Services & Pricing page as “A Final Farewell.”

If this is something you would like, simply let us know when you call.

  • Cremated remains are returned according to the urn you select at the time arrangements are made.

We offer several a standard resin urn as well as premium memorial urns. Complete details can be found on our Services & Pricing page, and we are always happy to walk you through the options when you call.

Once your pet’s cremated remains are ready, we will contact you to coordinate transport or return instructions.
